Death Of Boxer Prompts Wrongful Death Suit In New Jersey

Posted on

A complicated, cross boarder legal battle is now before a judge. The mother of a famous New Jersey boxer’s daughter, who died in Brazil, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against his widow, claiming she caused his death. Investigators in Brazil said that the man hanged himself in their Brazilian apartment, although investigators representing the boxer’s family said that there is no way the man could have committed suicide.

They say that physical evidence suggests his wife was responsible for his death. The man’s estate was given to his widow through a Canadian court ruling last month. The mother of the boxer’s daughter says that the case should be heard in New Jersey because that’s where he filed defamation lawsuits.

The mother may have a valid claim in the wrongful death suit if the judge in the case rules that that the widow may have contributed to the man’s death, and that the will he signed just before his death was invalid because he may have been coerced into signing it.

This wrongful death lawsuit is more complicated than usual because it involves New Jersey, Canada and Brazil. This is an example of when a person might want to seek out the help of an experienced personal injury attorney. They can make sure no detail is overlooked and all legal options are explored to try to get a fair settlement for the family member’s who’ve lost their loved one. An experienced New Jersey personal injury attorney can help you navigate the legal process and ensure your rights are preserved.
